Rick Santorum On The Issues

Rick Santorum On Abortion
Rick Santorum is unequivocally pro-life and believes that "a child is a child" and that even if that child was conceived as a result of violence then it is at no fault of the baby. Therefore he argues that even in the case of rape and incest abortion should be illegal. He led the charge on the partial birth abortion ban and would seek to nominate judges that would overturn Roe v. Wade as president in 2012.
Santorum believes that the lack of funds to our social security program is because of the declining population rate due to abortions. He argues that he is surprised Obama claims to defend civil rights but refuses to defend the rights of the unborn. Santorum opposes stem cell research and funding of any organization that promotes or performs abortions.
Rick Santorum On The Economy and Taxes
Rick Santorum supported the Paul Ryan budget proposal that would strip 60 billion dollars in spending as an effort to reduce the deficit and reform Medicare and Medicaid. He argues that entitlement programs are essentially open-ended and allow beneficiaries and healthcare institutions to spend whatever they would like on the government's dime. He believes we need to make the Bush Tax cuts permanent and that we need to stop punishing people who have worked for their money. He argues that the top wage earners in the states are job creators.
Rick Santorum On ObamaCare
Santorum believes that we should repeal Obamacare because it is a huge cost to the federal government and limits choice for healthcare consumers.
Rick Santorum On Gay Issues
Santorum is firmly against homosexual marriage and believes that activist judges should not decide on matters of defining marriage. He believes civil unions are a slippery slope in an attempt to grant homosexuals the right to get married. He said on civil unions, "it's a baby step -- Look, we'll take half a loaf now, and then after we've accomplished that then, you know, people will feel comfortable with it, and then we'll take the final step."
Rick Santorum On Right To Bear Arms
Rick Santorum is in support of the constitutional amendment that gives citizens the right to bear arms. Santorum as senator voted yes on a bill that bans lawsuits against gun manufacturers in 2005. He also introduced a bill called the sportsman privacy protection act which would prohibit the government from collecting the social security numbers of gun owners when people sign up for gun licenses.
Rick Santorum On Foreign Policy
Santorum believes that America can't be the world protector for all countries that face political turmoil. However, he argues things that we can do preemptively in an effort to avoid international atrocities abroad. In Libya he argues had we taken earlier steps to engage diplomatically then we could have possibly been able to get Gaddafi to step down. In cases where nations are a threat or a possible future threat he believes intervention is necessary. He thinks we should not just take a side role and not care about what is happening internationally, but take diplomatice and economic measures to help and support those that are at threat from dictators abroad. Rather than consult the United Nations, we should consult what is best for America.

Just did some checking on Santorum's past politics. Was shocked to see Santorum voted to NOT remove government subsidies to companies moving overseas in 2005!!! Are you kidding me??? Reward companies for taking jobs from Americans!!! The moral implications of what a woman decides to do with a pregnancy does not effect my family. Families losing their jobs and homes when corporations close and move to Asia does. Banks who run our economy into the ground through greed and risky/corrupt business decisions does. I am still sick the bank execs took the bail-outs then gave themselves million dollar bonuses and are busy lobbying in Washington. Santorum has a 100% pro-business voting rate- given that so many corporations are coming up corrupt, this shows he is not making the decisions that help the average US citizen- I see another mouthpiece for the immoral corrupt big business who are ruining our country. Protect our small/local businesses which create jobs and income here, not the big multinational corporations that suck the life out of our country. Preserve the upper and middle class, not help another billionaire buy a bigger yacht. Keep corporations from slacking on health and safety standards that kill our oil workers and miners and destroy our environment. Corporations are people... I don't think on the 8th day God created corporations. Where is the Republican candidate that cares about existing lives as much as the unborn?

I beleive Santorums' 2 tier tax reform is a huge step toward economic recovery, and Geithners' ability to actually file a proper return. Let's get adults back in the beltway. Rick Santorum in 2012

Santorum's stance correlating the diminished Social Security funds to abortion reminds me of a statement I heard on the floor of the Michigan Legislature probably 30 years ago. It's equally absurd: "Where are we going to get the young men to fight our wars if women are allowed to have abortions?"
I am personally opposed to abortion. No one demands that I have one. While I believe abortion should be restricted beyond the viability of a fetus, I also know how it was practiced prior to its legality. In those days, both fetus and mother died while living children were left motherless. I was a surgical nurse and I saw plenty of cases that persuaded me that abortion is NOT just an open and shut decision that should be the purview of rigid policy.

If you go to the DOJ civil rights home page, President O Ba ma's executive order has called to enforce all civil rights Mandates with criminal& civil enforcement for all civil rights mandates except for the "RA" section 504 and the ADA title II where citizens in most of the States with Disability are still being discrimination against. where state government services of the civil courts and regulator services are concerned. What is Senator Rick Sanatorium position on the excluding of the civil rights of citizen with disability, being excluded and denied 14th amendment rights, which leads to the citizens with disability ending up in the Medicaid and Medicare instead of the liable parties paying for the disabling auto accident and other injury cases?
There is a great program in Pennsylvanian that allows the citizens with disability who did not get 14th amendment civil rights to access the courts were represented by the legal aid program and the Attorney fees awarded gave the lawyer a bonus and the rest of the attorney fees go back into funding the state program. Why can't all states use this example? It would provide poor citizens more access to the courts and would help the government budget. Because there are frivolous law suites out there trying up the court system, but there are more cases of citizens with disability not getting to court, So what are you going to do?

To Mr Right ....
That is what makes rape such a horrible crime: because innocent people suffer.
I bet you don't think the rapist should receive the death penalty for his crime.
But the innocent baby should receive the death penalty?
Of course it is a horrible thing for a young girl to have to face that, to be raped, and then to be pregnant on top of it. But my mother always taught be that 2 wrongs do not make a right. Murdering the baby is not the answer.
But unfortunately, girls in that situation, who do choose abortion, will suffer ALL the rest of their lives from both the rape, AND the decision to abort, which will also scar their minds, just thinking that they chose to do that.
Don't tell me they will "get over" the abortion easier than "getting over" having a baby.
They don't have to look at the baby every day, if they allow a childless couple to adopt. There is no PERFECT solution to this problem, because a heinous crime has been committed, and there is no un-doing the rape.
But, getting down to brass tacks, the fact is: NEARLY ALL abortions are performed on women who simply didn't wish to be pregnant.
Percentage-wise, seldom is there a rape involved. The millions of murdered babies every year take place in healthy women who were NOT raped, but chose to have unprotected sex and then just "clean it out."

to Deb Della Piana:
Is it a "private matter" that the "government should not get involved in" if we walk up to a man on the street and shoot him to death? Of course not!
The whole debate about abortion is that there are people like yourself who do not recognize that a human being is human, no matter their location. If they are in their crib at home, or still living inside the womb, they are still human, and to kill them is MURDER.
Murder isn't a private matter. It is punishable by law, and those of us against the legal murder of babies need to be heard.

I am concerned about Santorums stand on gay rights. I respect peoples sensitivity to the word marriage. I believe as far as government is conserned it should be civil unions for hetero or homo relationships. Let churches be in the marriage business. They can marry anyone they want under their religious rules. Some churches will marry gay couples some will not.
As for abortion, I disagree with Deb (30 Oct), this is NOT a personal matter. It is a matter of whether or not it is correct to kill a life or not. You do not have to be religious to be against abortion.

not much new with this debate. How will you keep China from attacking, how will my unborn grandchild survive this economic downfall, will you stop the entitlements to those that would rather get pain to have children and not work, what about Iran, can you realy fix the budget, I remember the United States of America that had pride in the God, country and family. I beleive that Americans are fed up with all the bull---- that has been happening. So please tell me what are you going to change

those of us who do not believe in abortion are paying for it out of our pocket as well! So why shouldn't the government step in and overturn it? Or maybe they should just take our money out of the equation and those who want to abort can pay for it with their own money? Would that be better?

It's bear arms... not bare arms. This article is correct in its spelling. Either learn your Second Amendment or learn how to use an online dictionary before you post a stupid comment.
written by .... , November 21, 2011
You are wrong "bear arms" is correct not "bare arms." Bare arms means someone with naked or clad arms.
